The American International Choral Festival - St. Louis 2010

For the first time on American soil a festival is introduced that combines the best of the US and the international festival traditions. The American International Choral Festival will be a meeting place between conductors, between American and international choirs, between singing traditions from all parts of the world and the strong US choral movement.

In workshops and evaluation performances the participating choirs and conductors will be introduced to national and international choral literature, singing styles and performance practices. The choirs will take part in concerts and other big events, where they will be able not only to perform in front of an interested and interesting audience, but also to learn through listening to international groups. They will be offered the opportunity to experience the excitement of choral competitions. The festival is one of a worldwide series of INTERKULTUR competitions using the internationally renowned MUSICA MUNDI adjudication system. The competitions are divided into many categories, which guarantees that each competing choir has the possibility of showing their very best qualities and skills. Choirs are welcome to participate in the competitions, but they can also take part in the festival without competing. All choirs are welcome, from semi-professional to amateur choirs such as church choirs, school choirs, university or college choirs, community choruses, children choirs, barbershop and jazz choirs.

Containing a unique number of concert halls, churches and other places for performances, St. Louis is an ideal city for staging this big event. Through the series of concerts, from gala concerts to encounter concerts this city will transform into a "singing city" for these five days in November 2010.
